Daily Events Wednesday-Saturday On Your Own Time:  Downtown Scavenger Hunt While shopping, eating or simply enjoying one of the many Ice Cream Days’ events in downtown Le Mars, participate in a family-friendly, self-paced scavenger hunt showcasing downtown buildings significant in Le Mars’ history.  Pick up the scavenger hunt sheets at the Chamb er of Commerce, City Hall, Visitor’s Bureau or Ice Cream Parlor.  Return your completed sheets to the Ice Cream Parlor by Saturday when all correct sheets will be entered in a prize drawing.  The Downtown Scavenger Hunt is created by the Youth on Main Street high school students. Wednesday thru Friday 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. • Le Mars Arts Center 200 Central Ave SE  - Jean Weiner Watercolors on exhibit. Six of the finest artists in Oil, Glass Fusion, Watercolor, Pottery, Jewelry making and Alcohol Ink will be setup “vendor style” all week for your shopping convenience. Glaze a piece of pottery to be Raku fired on Saturday after the parade.  Make your own glass fusion jewelry or dish, paint a piece of pottery, or do an encaustic painting in our open studio space. 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. • Plymouth County Historical Museum 335 1st Avenue SW  - Explore Plymouth County and area with five floors of exhibits at the Museum. Completely handicap accessible and free admission. Start on first floor with a view of artifacts from the Kimball Village Site, where Native Americans lived 800 years ago near the city of Westfield. If you want to shoot a few hoops in the 1925 “Old Central” Gym, be our guest. Check out the lower level and try your hand at milking Maggie the cow. The Floyd Valley Model Railroad Club also will give the “all aboard” sign for their display on the north side of the lower level. Take in the new Le Mars Historic Preservation Resource Room on second floor. Keep your cool on third floor with a refreshing stop for an ice-cold root beer float in the 1940s Miller’s Lunch diner, once a culinary landmark in Le Mars. Climb all the way to the fourth floor – or take the elevator – to the newest exhibit in the Study Hall: “Through the Years of Black and White.”  See Dick and Glada Koerselman photography from decades of community journalism. Out on the Museum grounds, tour the Weber Log Cabin, a Civil War era cabin from western Plymouth County; and Joy Hollow Log Cabin, built in the 1890s in Sioux City. The Le Mars Historic Preservation Commission will have experienced, trained tour guides who will provide an educational tour about the architectural elements that are displayed in downtown Le Mars. The parade will line up at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds and move west on 6th Street NE to Central Avenue, turn south and proceed through downtown, past Foster Park and end at 8th Street South. Try your hand in the tournament or come get familiar with the ever growing sport of disc golf. Four divisions will be offered; Youth ($10), Women, ($10), Amateur ($10), and Advanced ($15). Cash payouts and prizes will be given to each division. Pin prizes at every hole, door prizes and raffle items will also be offered.  Registration will be on-site the day of the event from 9:00-9:45 a.m. with tee-off starting at 10:00 a.m. Innova discs will be available for sale onsite.
